I was not sure how far I wanted to go today the schedule said to run a 5K today so 3 miles fast.  I knew I wanted to run more than 3 miles but I was not sure how much more the plan was to head out the door and see how far I could go at half marathon pace.  I used a route that is very hilly the whole way.  There are not a lot of steep hills but you are either going up or down there is not a flat area on this road.  I ended up going 5.5 miles here are my splits: 9:01, 8:35, 8:32, 8:39, 8:30 and the last half mile is listed at 4:36 (I am not sure what that means)  I felt much better at the end of this run than I did the last time I ran this speed, I hope that soon this speed will feel much more comfortable.

Kathie nice run. I am very impressed with your times. I don't think I could keep up with you. What happened to the 10 miles you told me you were going to run????

Now who is being sneaky. Telling me to do a slow 10 and you do a 5.5 hill and speed workout. I think someone wants to defend her title a little too much.

From Kathie on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 13:56:26

If you read Dales blog you will see that I slept in. I am not being sneaky just lazy!

It was a good run though and I am happy with the times. I didn't look at my watch during the run so I was a little shocked to see my splits, it really didn't feel that fast.

From huans32 on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 14:03:38

Ya after seeing your times I am glad you didnt come join us. We would of had a hard time keeping up with you. I did notice one of the hills being a 12+ mile. Good job on some good speedy miles.

From huans32 on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 14:04:41

Hmm I am still with Kathie though that your more the sneaky one Kimmy. At least we can see what she did.:)

From Kimmy on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 14:08:48

Yes......but if she is willing to lie to me about how many miles she is going to run........do you really think she is telling the truth about her splits. For all we know she is running faster!!!!!

From Kathie on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 14:48:14

Hey now little missy... I didn't lie to you when I said I was going to run ten miles that was the plan and then I slept in and the plan changed! You are just mad because you ran 10 miles on the Dreadmill last night! By the way how is your foot?

From DonGardinero on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 14:50:33

Kathie...

Great splits on your run. I know Bountiful doesn't have many flat areas. You and Kimmy sound like my kids today. They've been going at it since they got up this morning and then they got grounded from going to Chucky Cheese today :(

You girls crack me up. Crack a lackin'!!!

LOL hmm good point Kimmie. So you think she is pushing the speeds even faster like the 8:00-15?? I am sure your right. Hmm makes you wonder doesnt it. Great job Kimmy on your 10 miler on the Dreadmill. I have done many miles on them too. Just isnt the same but still good miles. Great job.

From Kimmy on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 15:43:11

Dale...

I think my mom sometime wishes she could still ground us and have it work. She just has to deal with us.

She does threaten our inheritance every once in a while (that seems to work very well)!!!!

From DonGardinero on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 16:40:24

Kimmy...

That's a good one. I'll have to try that when they're older...IF I have an inheritance to give them.

From Kathie on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 17:25:35

Hey I thought I was the only one still getting and inheritance or was that Lee Ann!

From DonGardinero on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 18:13:40

Is Lee Ann Heathen Sister?

From Teena on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 18:46:23

Sweet Kathie!!

Sounds like an awesome run. Those are some fast splits for hills. You smoked it today!! Do you think the extra sleep was a benefit?

You're a hill machine!!

Have a great night!

From Kimmy on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 19:30:58

No LeeAnn is not Heathen Sister (her name is Cristy). She is our non-running sister. We have tried to get her to run....but it is not going to happen.

From Kathie on Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 19:47:16

Dale

Lee Ann has 5 kids she doesn't need to run! And before you ask not we do not have any brothers.

Teena

I am not sure the extra sleep helped but is sure felt good to lay in bed and watch the sun come up for once.

Great run Kathie. Hilly runs make me cringe, I really do not like the hills at all. Looks like you handled the hills just fine and really ran some great splits. The speed will come, just keep on runnin.

From Smooth on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 14:56:03

Kathie -- WOW!!! How did you get SO SPEEDY? What's your secrets? Promise I won't tell Kimmy.

You don't want to see my splits on hills. Mine are in the 10's. Come to think of it, I can't run your pace even on flat course. I am impressed. You are a hill machine. GREAT RUN!!! AWESOME all around. You're gonna PR at Painter's for sure.

O, I'm guessing the 4:36 listed on your last 0.5 mi must be the running time. But then again, you could be running a sub-5 mile pace there for those last 0.5 miles. Any chance it was all downhill there? If not, you are officially a speed demon.
