Today called for 10 miles with 5 at half marathon pace.  I really pushed the first 5 miles.  At the turn around when I started to slow down my left calf  started to cramp up.  I would walk until it released and then run again.  I wanted the last 5 to be slow but not that slow.  Finally after mile 8 the cramping started to go away.  I walked the big hill up to my house.

Nice run...except for the cramping.

Hmmm, I wonder if you had run at least one warm up mile before hitting half marathon pace or run uphill first for warm up then the calf would be happier? Also changing direction or terrains always cause my muscle to misfire especially when they are fatigued! I think I will do dynamic stretches (not static stretches) before any speed work, my old body needs extra time for warm up and cool down to avoid injury!

NICE run on a Monday morning! have a great week!

Sorry about the cramps ... but check out those sweet paces pre-cramping! :) :) :)
