10 X 400 meter @ 7:30 pace 1% incline 100 meter rest This was very hard again.

I noticed that my lungs never seem to burn, or I guess I don't get tired cardiovascularly but my legs seem to turn to noodles near the end.  What kind of training should I be doing so my legs can get as strong as my cardo?

Lifted bicep, triceps and abs

Kathie...

That was an awesome run!!!

I don't know what you could do to make your legs stronger. I have the same problem and it seems like we're doing everything right.

Hmm I think that the burn will come later. Or at least that is what I think will happen when you get close to that puke pace or something. I dont think in my training I have ever had that lung burning feeling either. If anything Kathie sounds like you haven't hit your peak potential is what it says to me. Very nice workout. 10 of them too. DANG!!!

WOW Kathie!!! 10 x 400 meters at 7:30 pace???!!! That's an awesome speed workout. Sounds like you have excellent VO2Max capacity. It's just a matter of time and consistent training for your leg muscles to catch up. Speed work outs are hard. Speed work outs help to train the fast twitch muscles. I like to allow half of the time it takes to do the interval for recovery. Another thing to remember is concentrate on running form. These speed work outs will help with running efficiency.

Great workout. Just keep doing what your doing and your legs will get stronger. You may want to try some bounding and other jumping exercises to increase leg strength as well.

Guess what! Meg said the same thing about her legs to me this morning as we were doing our striders. I think it's very normal to feel fatigue in your legs when your running hard. If you don't, you probably need to be working harder. Great workout!! Your legs will get stronger as you continue to run but you could always add some weight training and/or short uphill sprints. I like Rhett's ideas as well.

Great run! I think you should just consider yourself lucky about your cardio abilities! It drives people crazy sometimes but I am always able to talk while I am running and often don't finish out of breath (although 10x400 would definitely leave me heaving on the side of the track!). Like everyone else I think leg fatigue was probably a sign of a hard workout, as long as they haven't been overworked lately.
