Ran with SDRR I went early and did 3.4 miles before the run.  They started right on time today but there were only five of us Jim, Andy, Laura, one other girl (did get her name sorry) and me.  They all run very fast and for the first little while they wanted too run together.  They tried to run my pace but I was so glad when they left me!

splits 8:46, 8:59, 9:11, 9:34, 8:26, 9:00, 9:08, 9:29, 10:08, 9:46, 9:25

Like last week I felt like I was going much faster than the splits show especially when I was with the group.  I though we must have been running 7:30 but we were only going 8:30-9:00

10 X 400 meter @ 7:30 pace 1% incline 100 meter rest This was very hard again.

I noticed that my lungs never seem to burn, or I guess I don't get tired cardiovascularly but my legs seem to turn to noodles near the end.  What kind of training should I be doing so my legs can get as strong as my cardo?

5 mile recovery run.  9:13 pace (6.5) I got bored the last mile and upped the speed every 10th of a mile until I ran the last 10th at 7:30 Pace.

Recovery day 3 miles at 9:13 (6.5) 1% incline.  Legs didn't feel any better they were very heavy.  However when I lifted my normal weights they felt much stronger and I could do more reps weird right!

Lifted - all over legs

Spin class - Neighbor was in class so I had to "race" him really dumb thing to do on a recovery day... when will I stop being so competitive?

6 miles on the elliptical.  Because my legs have been dead I used 9% resistance rather than 11% My legs feel like I got a great workout I am glad I made that choice.

10.5 they were not all marathon pace miles but they were not easy either.  I met up with the SDRR ran 6 on my own before they got there.  Ate one GU (yuck!) had some water, then headed out for 4.5 more.  The last 4.5 I wanted to go fast so I asked Laura the to pace me.  We went out too fast but I could hang with her for the most part After two mile she wanted to go check on the back of the pack and left me to try and pace myself.  I noticed when ever I get tried my body goes right to a 9:30 pace.  I really need to concentrated if I am going to go faster.  I am not sure how Painters will go next week Here are my three goals

Happy 2:00:00

Thrilled 1:55:00

Ecstatic 1:53:00

Here are my splits for today 8:55, 9:03, 8:57, 9:11, 9:04, 8:51, 8:17, 8:12, 8:34, 9:29,

ran 3.2 @ 6.5 (9:13) Increased speed last mile just to get off early.

I have been in such a weird mood since Saturday and I can't seem to get out of it.  I didn't run on Monday or Tuesday and I only went to spin today for social reasons (to see friends).  After spin I forced myself to run three miles but it wasn't fun.  It was not hard but I didn't get any enjoyment out of it.  I am not writing this to fish for sympathy but just to record how I am doing in hopes that when I find a way out of the mess I will know what to do next time.  I almost didn't post at all again today.  I hope I can work this out before the race.

Thanks Jeff you saved me!  I was moping around my house then I read what you wrote on my blog.  I decided to get on the treadmill and just walk while I watched biggest loser.  After a while I upped the speed ran 3 miles 1 at race pace.  I walked until the show was over for 6.5 miles that would have never happen without this blog.  Thanks guys!

Going into this race I wanted to just run my very best.  It was going to be the first time that I had not run with Kimmy and I was really nervous about the race.  If I did poorly it was all on me no excuses.  My goal was to come in under 2:00:00 and if I pushed really hard I wanted to pr and come in under 1:53:03

When we got to the race I went to the POP and ran into Adrian, a guy on our Wasatch back team.  I jokingly said I wanted him to pace me.  He said he just wanted to run this race for fun and that he would!

Not only did he pace me he coached me every step of the way.  He told me how to breathe better, improve my form and everything in between.  Long story short he coached me to a 1:51:20 15th in my age group!  I am not sure if I will ever be able to beat that PR.  I had several people ask as we passed them if he would coach them.  He totally pushed me to my limits and then made me go past them!

The only sad part to this story is that I really wanted Kimmy there right beside me during this race especially at the finish line! Stink!!!!

 Splits 8:33, 8:07, 8:08, 8:10, 8:18, 8:10, 8:20, 8:20, 8:31, 8:12, 8:34, 8:31, 8:45

You can really see where the wheels started to come off and if Adrian had not been there I think I would have stopped and walked for sure!

Side note my mom took 2nd place in her age group for the 5K!

Elliptical today.  Last year at this time I went from 10% resistance to 11% .  This year I decided to try 12%  I knew it would be hard but I want to keep getting faster so I need to push myself every workout.

I got on the elliptical set the time for 50 minutes and the resistance to 12.  By mile 2.5 my legs were burning I wanted to go back to 11% but I talked myself out of it.  At the half way point (25 min)  I was surprised to see that I was four tenths of a mile ahead.  My legs were really burning and I quickly lost that four tenths and was really fighting just to stay on target (6 miles in 50 min) When I had a half mile left George Thorogood's "Bad to the Bone" came on and I kick some butty!  finished the 6 miles in 43:54.  It is funny how some songs can really pull you through when you need it.  Here are the words to a song by Mute Math that has really helped me lately When I want to do my "typical" work out/effort

Come on can I dream for one day
There's nothing that cant be done
But how long should it take somebody
before they can be someone

‘cause I know there's got to be another level
Somewhere closer to the other side
And I'm feeling like its now or never
Can I break the spell
Of the typical, the typical

Now I've lived through my share of misfortunes
And I've wept to the blazing sun
But how long should it take somebody
before they can be someone

‘Cause I know there's got to be another level
Somewhere closer to the other side
And I'm feeling like its now or never
Can I break the spell
Of the typical, the typical, the typical

I'm the typical, I'm the typical

Can I break the spell of the typical

Because its dragging me down
I would like to know about when
When does it all turn around?

Yet I know there's got to be another level
Somewhere closer to the other side
And I'm feeling like its now or never
Can I break the spell
Of the typical, the typical, the typical

Break the spell of the typical

Six miles the first two were at 9:13 (6.5) the second two were 9:05 (6.6) and the last two were all over the place because yet again I got bored, mostly 8:30 - 8:00 (7.0-7.5)

Lifted for arms

On Monday I am going to start a new program and wanted to "challenge" anyone to do it with me.  It is a six week program and at the end of the six week you should be able to do 100 push-ups in a row.  You can find the program at:

http://www.hundredpushups.com/index.html

I am going to do girl push-up for two reasons the first being that I am a girl and the second is that I really don't want to get bulky man arms (just really sexy girl arms!) Anyway let me know if you are in.  I am going to post my progress Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays.

Ran with SDRR. Ran one mile warm up before they came and then 6 with the group.  The group is getting larger and I think it is starting to take off.  I Hope we get even more during the spring and summer.

Splits: 8:47, 8:59, 8:57, 11:09 (big hill) 9:10, 8:45, 8:21

My hiny still hurts from the hills and when I complain to my husband all he can say is "then don't run hills"  I get no sympathy at all.
