I put this under hill mileage because that is really what it was all about today.  The whole run was either up or down hill and they all were pretty steep. Ran 6 before the group met at the3.25 mile mark I saw Andy going the other way.  I knew he was behind me and would catch up if I didn't keep a good pace.  On these hill that was really hard to do but I stayed ahead of him just barely!  It is sad that I call it a victory that I ran 2.75 miles in the same amount of time that he ran over 4 miles but I take whatever I can get!

4.5 easy miles so far...I was in the middle of my workout when my husband called from the car repair shop.  The electrical system on his car went out.  I am just now getting home.  Now do I put my running close back on and finish or just call it good?

PM 3.5 miles Thanks Guys

Woke up this morning ready to run.  I felt great and wanted to run 13 hilly miles.  I started running and knew I was in for a long day.  I lifted for legs really hard mostly calfs.  Every time I went up hill my calfs started to cramp, down hill was fine.  By mile 9 when Andy flew by me I was done I pushed on for 2.5 more miles but ended it early.

6 miles elliptical 11% resistance in 38:08  I think that is a new PR for this workout by 15-30 seconds I will have to go back and make sure.  It was hard but it felt good to really push it.  Now if only I could run 6 miles that fast.

14 miles above the smog!!!  The hills were still hard but at least my calfs behaved.  I finished 13 miles at 2:05:00 which means I need to cut ten minutes off my time to meet my goal next week - This is how I plan to do that.

Running shoes instead of trail shoes = one minute

Less hills = one minute

Race day magic = one minute

aid stations = one minute

Warmer temperatures = one minute

Well I can only come up with 5 minutes I guess that will have to do :) If you can come up with 5 more let me know.

4.5 easy miles.  After I finished my 14 mile on Saturday my left knee was hurting, it continued to hurt all day Saturday and Sunday.  When I woke up today it felt better but I didn't want to risk it so close to a race.  I waited until 6:00pm to make sure it felt ok and then did some really easy miles.  It still feels good.  I think I will try a few tempo miles tomorrow.

For the past two years we have given this race to my mom for a Christmas gift. We loaded up Friday morning we hoped we would have good weather for the trip.  My sister who came from Preston Idaho had a hard time coming to my house but other than that the drive was great.  Woke up Saturday and I packed my whole running wardrobe just in case but the weather during the race was great a well.

Over all I felt really good during this whole race, it was not a goal race but more of a training run.  I didn't really push it and I felt great during the  race.

One of the best parts of the race was at mile ten when someone started to pass me. I turned to tell him that it was rude pass this late in the race and it was Maynard!  He looked strong I wanted to stay with him but couldn't.

I finished 40 second slower this year than I did last year but felt much stronger at the end.  I passed 12 people in the last two miles so over all I feel good about this race but I hope I can do much better in future races

Time - 1:51:57

Splits - 8:27, 8:22, 8:08, 8:13, 8:36, 8:20, 8:24, 9:01, 8:51, 8:36, 8:57, 8:34, 8:38

My sisters and my mom all run either the half or the 5K for the past two years my mom has taken second in her division in the 5k and this year my Non running sister took 9 minutes off her 5k time!

After the race we shop and play all weekend so much fun we are already planning next year!

I tried to go faster again today but my hamstrings really hurt not when I walk or sit just when I run fast.  I guess I will give it another day.  I have to go to a wedding this weekend and I may miss a run or two so it is killing me not to be able to work out today...Boston will be here way too soon!

I just got to the hotel for the wedding this week end and found out there is not a treadmill!!!! I only brought shorts so no running outside STINK!  I guess I get a rest day whether I wanted one or not. Maybe I should just do walking lunges up and down the hall way.

I wanted to do 15 today.  I hate it when I give up too early.  I think the hills take too much out of me, by the time I get to the later miles I just want to quit.  I think I will do three more miles barefoot on the treadmill tonight just so I get 30 miles for this week.  This week has really been sad I had better shape up or Boston is going to STINK!!!!  I will be in Hawaii next week so I am not sure how much better I will be there...you guys yell at me if I start to slack!
