All really easy miles.  Hamstring is not getting better, nor is it getting worse.  When I started the run I went 1.5 miles stopped and stretched, it helped a little.  Ran one more mile decided to skip the hills at the end of the run. After I turned around I thought I could run to my sons house and get a drink, he lives .25 miles down a hill out of my way.  When I got there it looked like they were still asleep so I walked back up the hill.  Even though I walked it still bothered my hammy.  Ran home and did the last mile and a half on the nice flat treadmill.

Splits: 9:20, 8:59, 9:04, 11:08 (walking up hill) 9:00, 7:52 (.80)

I ran this with my son.  He had never ran more than 9 miles at one time.  I was not sure how he would do but he rocked it!  I always walk the last mile, it is a steep up hill but he said he had thing to do and he just ran up it like it was totally flat.  I am not sure that he will BQ his first marathon but I  now know he can finish.  If I could just get him to train I am sure he would kill it...I guess at 18 you have to many other fun distractions to run all the time!

At mile 10 a 5K race passed us on the other side of the road we must have subconsciously pick up the pace it was is our fastest mile, half of it is up hill!

5X800 meter at 7:30 pace 1% incline, they all felt very hard, I have been letting my speed workouts slide because I have been racing so much and now I am paying for it!  Hamstring didn't hurt during the run but it is bugging me now...off to sit on an ice bag!

Woke up and hamstring is worse way worse...it hurts just to walk now.  Nothing today, I am going to try and elliptical tomorrow I hope it goes well.  The sad part is I don't think running made it worse, it must have been the spin class!

Elliptical 6 miles.  I started at 11% quickly moved to 9% and then to 6%, the heavy resistance hurt my hamstring. I did it in a very slow 49 minutes but without pain.

Because I was unsure how the hammy would work I stayed close to home.  While the splits seem fast I stopped and stretched a lot.  I stopped a 1.5, 3, 6, 7.5, 8, 8.5 and 10 miles.  While running I concentrated on bringing my leg forward and using my quad rather than the hamstring.  This seemed to make me go faster with less effort...bonus!!!!

Elliptical 6% resistance in 46:27 I am really sad about this workout, last night I read what I was doing last year.  I was at 11% resistance and I did it in 41 something...I know I am hurt now but I was hurt then with a bad back.  All this time I was under the impression that I was getting faster but I am not I am getting slower, weaker and less motivated.... Somebody slap me upside my head and get me going!

I got up early so I could run with the Gumps.  When I woke up my hammy actually felt better and I was looking forward to a great run.  It was not to be, the first three miles felt ok, but soon into the fourth mile I could feel it starting to burn.  I has started to run with Paul and I thought the pace might have been too fast but my Garmin said we were right on pace.  By mile 6 I was having a hard time holding the pace and at 6.5 I told Teena and Paul to go on without me.  Of course they refused and talked me into getting Teena's pool belt and pool running the last 8 miles.  On the drive home from the run the pain was really bad.

I got to the pool around 8:00 and was happy to see three lanes open.  I was not sure if this was going to work and for the first 10 minutes even pool running hurt.  The pain decreased by quit a bit after 15 minutes and did not increase until 75 minutes in the pool.  I ran for a total of  80 minutes.  Not sure if that is the same as an 8 mile run, I never felt out of breath or tired, maybe I am not doing it right.  Every now and then I would run hard for a minute and the easy for a minute but for the most part I just kept and even pace.  As I sit now typing this the pain is coming back even though I am on ice.  I think I should elevate it but how do you elevate you Butt?

Anyway thank you so so so much Paul and Teena for putting up with me, I swear I really don't act like a 2 year old all the time!  Teena thank for letting me use your belt it really think it saved me!

60 minutes pool running, trying to avoid all the splashing scouts working on merit badges

Hammy feels good but it felt good before I ran on Saturday...the plan is to pool run again on Tuesday and then try to run on Wednesday.

4 walking miles.  I had a very busy morning and by the time I could go to the pool swimming lessons had started so I bagged the pool and headed for the treadmill.  I started at 4 miles per hour and slowed down until my hammy didn't hurt I did 3 miles at 3.6 miles per hour but had to do the last mile at 2.5.  Hammy feels "irritated" but not in pain.  Because walking didn't really feel good today I think I will try to pool run tomorrow and forgo trying to run another day.

100 minutes pool running first hour I was stuck in a water aerobics class it was funny because they kept trying to get me to do what the rest of the class was doing.  Last 40 minutes I untethered and ran in a lane.  The time went faster because at least I was moving.  I will try and do 120 minutes tomorrow.  Pain level was zero...I need to not push it so I can keep it that way!

Not sure what I am going to do tomorrow.  I may run the 5 mile loop around my house and keep doing it until I hit 15 miles or my hammy starts to hurt.

Run did not go well, really don't want to talk about it.  I am being a big baby right now when I finally grow up and start to deal with this I will write more.  11 .5 miles on the road  2.5 miles on the treadmill and even that hurt!  I think why I am so upset is that I stopped running before it started to hurt too bad, but as I was walking the pain increased a lot.  I thought I was being so smart.

There is not much good I can say about this run, but after I finished I talked to my husband and he said I need to look on the bright side and realize at least I was running.  He is right, I will need to change my goals for St. George.  It would take a miracle for me to pr.  My goal now is to train the best I can each week and then run the best race I can and enjoy the fact that I am running.

This is the hard part now, what is the best way to train?  The reason this run was so bad was because I felt VERY weak.  My endurance was low and my speed was lower than when I first started running 5 years ago. Here are the spits from today's run.  Bare in mind that I was trying to run as fast as I could on all these miles.  At the end of the 12 miles I felt like I had gone 20.

Splits: 8:58, 9:06, 9:15, 9:21, 9:06, 9:29, 9:33, 9:48, 10:08, 9:57, 12:08 walked the last mile on the treadmill.

The hamstring itself felt weak but there was not a lot of pain.

Here is what the training plan calls for next week.  Let me know how you think I should tweak it.  Pool running while it helped the hammy heal I think is not the best option for me from here on out.  I need to run more for sure!

M - 6 X Hill repeats

T- 9 mile run

W - 4 mile run

TH - 9 mile run

F- Elliptical/yoga

S - 19 mile run
