8 easy miles on the dreadmill I didn't want to brave the rain but I should have.  I cut it short just so I wouldn't go crazy!  I have no idea how some of you stay on the treadmill so long!

Today should have been a 30 minute tempo run.  After a mile warm up at 9:13 I upped the pace to 8:20 almost instantly my left calf started to hurt STINK!!!!! I went back to 9:13 and finished the miles.  I am hoping it hurt because I was on my rickity old treadmill. It did hurt on Wednesdays or Saturdays runs so I am not sure where the pain is coming from.

Only four easy miles again!  I was heading out the door to run when my son came over with my grandson.  I got in a quick 4 miles while he slept but that was all.  Calf still hurt but started to feel better near the end.  I want to get in one good run before Ogden...Tomorrow I need to go to traffic court (forgot to register my car with all the Boston prep.)  I think I might just pay the full fine so I can go to spin.  Is a spin class really worth 50-75 dollars?  Can you believe my answer is yes!

6 miles 3% decline 1 mile at 9:13 3.5 miles at 8:57 .5 at 8:34 .3 at 8:13 .2 at 6:40  Form really felt best at higher speeds.  The 6:40 was really hard I need to see if I could hold that for a full 400 meters but it is not looking good.  Maybe after Ogden.

Spin - REALLY hard class!  Race day class with no breaks 50 minutes of totally rocking it out.  I felt light headed twice but concentrated on my breathing and I was OK.  I can still feel it in my hips but that is a good thing I think.

Lifted for abs and back today.

Yoga - So hard!  I cant even explain what we did but my arms are going to be sore for days!

Walked 3.3 miles with my husband and then ran a few more.  I was wondering if walking is good cross training.  I felt it much more in my hips and glutes, which is where I feel I am the weakest. Do you think it would be helpful if I walked three miles with my husband everyday in addition to my St. George training?

Went do the gym and did 4X400 meters. One mile warm up at 9:13 first three repeats were at 7:18 (8.2) last one I did half at 6:40 and then started to really lose form so I bumped it back down to 7:18

Walked three miles with my honey!

Ran two miles at tempo pace, came home and picked up my husband for our three mile walk. The clouds started to roll in.  We turned around after just one mile and with .5 miles left to go it really started to rain hard.  I told my husband sorry but I am not walking in this!  I sprinted the .5 home.  Then I was nice and picked him up in the car.

I had a really hard time getting up for this race after Boston.  I did little training in the three weeks between the race and gained four pounds!  When my alarm went off Saturday morning I almost rolled over turned it off and went back to sleep.  Good thing I had promised my neighbor that I would drive her to the start.

I got to the race met up with Maynard, Charlie, Mark, and Smooth we set up camp and still no butterflies no adrenalin…nothing.  The plan was to try for a 3:50 and have Mark pace me.  I always go out too fast so his main job was make sure I stayed on pace.  Mark did his job and at mile 13 we were 30 seconds ahead of plan but feeling good.  About here I fell apart mentally, pain started to set in and the fact that I really didn’t want to be there in the first place made it hard not to just quit.  Mark talked me through it and was a great coach.  During the next four miles we lost our lead and ended up 2 minutes behind.  If I kept up the pace I could still PR by 2 minutes, but to be behind was yet again another mental blow.  Mark slowed down at mile 16 and told me to go on, his cold had finally caught up to him.  I latched on to Lowell, a friend of Smooth, and ran with him for a couple of miles until he started to fade.  I than ran into Gavin a runner who was on my Wasatch Back team a few years ago, ran with him until he needed to fix his shoe.   At mile 22 I saw the Zimmerman boy (sorry forgot your name) FLY by he was looking so good I knew he was going to have the race of his life!  Now to make matters worse my ipod died, I was mentally and physically in the crapper, all alone and I had no music.   I walked a lot of mile 23. I decided at mile 24 I was going to pass 10 people there were a lot of people walking so I did this before I hit mile 25.  I had reached my goal so I stared to walk for no other reason than the fact that I didn’t want to run any more.  A man ran up next to me and said “don’t stop you have been pacing me for the last few miles” I ran in the rest of the way but still no excitement even when I crossed the finish line.

I finished with a time of 3:58:58 10th in my age group.  I have vowed to have a better race at St. George, then again how can it get worse!

Ran 10 miles the first four were with a neighbor who is training for her first 5K she was so fun to run with.  She had never run farther than two miles.  When we got to each turn around point she kept saying "I think I can go further."  When we finished four miles she was so happy she rocked!

I did 6 after by myself I kept thinking I was going much faster than I was.  I think the slow pace of the first four miles through me off.

Ran a 5K with my son today.  I had a ton of fun, and I think it was a PR I will have to look at my report from last year to make sure.  I saw Andy, his two daughters and ex-wife.  Andy ran with Gracie. She said she wanted to puke at the end, so she must have ran a great race.  My son dressed up and just ran for fun but still had a great race.  If I can I will add a picture of how he was dressed.

Splits : 8:01, 7:57, 7:48

over all time 24:48 - I just looked and this time is 9 seconds slower than last year - Oh well, I wonder if I knew how fast I had run this last year if I could have pushed it faster this year.  Really though this race is just for fun so why push it!  I did have to stop and tie my shoe, maybe that is where I lost the 9 seconds!
