Sorry for the late report, it has been way too hard to be both Mom and Dad this past week.  I wanted to write a great report that told all my feelings during the race but I will settle with a few things that I learned from the race.

First of all I already knew that I had the best sister in the world but this weekend verified that.  Kimmy (Hickgirl) stayed with Nick for the whole race even when his foot started hurting and they were forced to walk a lot!  I love her so much and I am sure Nick does too!

Second, Karma is real and it will bite you in the butt!  Right at the very spot I yelled at Kimmy last year for going too slow is where I started to fall apart.  I have learned my lesson and I will never take for granted feeling good in a marathon.  No matter how hard you train you can still have problems arise!

Third, Smooth is so fun to run with.  When I was at my lowest point, she tried to talk me through it.  She sang to me and made me laugh (at least on the inside at this point there was no laughing to be had on the outside).  I love her so much.  Brad was also so kind I had to yell at him to leave me because he wouldn't go.  I am glad he left I would have hated to mess up his race too!

Forth, running with cute teenage boys makes the miles go by faster for a while any way.  If you want proof look at my race photos.

I will list my spits for posterity although I would like to forget them:

9:03, 8:54, 8:50, 8:25, 8:33, 8:48, 8:20, 10:23, 9:12, 9:29, 9:26, 10:05, 8:48, 11:02, 8:53, 9:48, 9:40, 12:21, 13:07, 10:21, 10:18, 11:47, 12:29, 10:04, 13:44, 11:20

Four easy miles although they hurt really bad.  I am now having a hard time going up stairs.  I ran on Monday after St. George last year.  I am not sure why my legs are still sore when I ran so slow this year.  Any ideas?

I set my alarm last night but forgot to turn it on!  I only had time for 3 elliptical miles at 6% resistance.  Because it was short I tried to keep my cadence at 180 and was successful for the most part.

lifted for legs, they felt a lot better today

Yoga - My husband has found a yoga class for me to go to in Japan.  I am not sure how it will work when I don't speak Japanese...Ima is dog though so when I hear that I will do down dog, or maybe up dog...

12.5 miles with running group.  They were slightly faster than I wanted but I seemed to be able to keep up and I recovered just fine so maybe the pace was just right!  First three miles were on my own.

Splits: 9:03, 9:04, 9:05, 8:51, 8:56, 8:47, 8:37, 8:57, 8:57, 9:02, 9:16, 9:14,

Last two miles are slightly up hill.

1% incline 8:57 speed for the first three. 1.5 at 9:13.  I really want my easy pace to be at 8:57 but if it doesn't feel easy could it do more harm than good to push it?  What if I use that as my easy pace until I start training for Boston and then reevaluate.  Last week I felt like I had no real recovery runs while I didn't push too hard I just didn't feel refreshed ever...Now I am just rambling....any way I would love any thoughts/ideas on the matter.

Spin - we did cone intervals start with 20 seconds fast and 40 seconds rest 30 fast 30 rest 40 fast 20 rest then 60 fast 10 rest and then go back down.  We did this for an hour.  For the last 10 minutes with a heavy gear.  I may not walk normal again!

Boy was I feeling the spin workout yesterday.  I warmed up slowly for a half mile and then I would run a mile at 8:57 1% incline walk for .1 and then start all over again.  This was much harder than it should have been!

Lifted for arms

Spin - Another hard class...

Being both Mom and Dad is KILLING my long runs.  My teenagers have a midnight curfew on weekends.  On Friday night they were out until midnight...why would they come home any earlier?  I had to get up at 4:15 to run before a meeting I had at 8:30.  I distinctly remember at mile 5 wanting to go to sleep on the grass and not even caring if I ever woke up or who saw me sleeping there.  I cut my 13 mile run down to 9, I am not sure what I am going to do next weekend!  Do you think if I ask nicely they will come in at 9:30 so I can go to bed?

I got up at 4:15 to run today.  I have a friend who is running the St. George half (her first race!) and she wants me to help her train.  She has to be home by 6:10 so her husband can go to work.  It is hard to get up but she is so fun to run with.

Splits: 9:58, 10:06, 10:26, 10:23, 10:07

She runs much slower than I do, how do you think it will affect my training if I run this slow twice a week?

Six miles at O dark thirty.  First three by myself and then three with my friend.  I pushed her at the end she thanked me but I am not sure she really wanted to go that fast.  There were two other runners in front of us, I challenged her to pass them and she did!
