Sorry for the late report, it has been way too hard to be both Mom and Dad this past week.  I wanted to write a great report that told all my feelings during the race but I will settle with a few things that I learned from the race.

First of all I already knew that I had the best sister in the world but this weekend verified that.  Kimmy (Hickgirl) stayed with Nick for the whole race even when his foot started hurting and they were forced to walk a lot!  I love her so much and I am sure Nick does too!

Second, Karma is real and it will bite you in the butt!  Right at the very spot I yelled at Kimmy last year for going too slow is where I started to fall apart.  I have learned my lesson and I will never take for granted feeling good in a marathon.  No matter how hard you train you can still have problems arise!

Third, Smooth is so fun to run with.  When I was at my lowest point, she tried to talk me through it.  She sang to me and made me laugh (at least on the inside at this point there was no laughing to be had on the outside).  I love her so much.  Brad was also so kind I had to yell at him to leave me because he wouldn't go.  I am glad he left I would have hated to mess up his race too!

Forth, running with cute teenage boys makes the miles go by faster for a while any way.  If you want proof look at my race photos.

I will list my spits for posterity although I would like to forget them:

9:03, 8:54, 8:50, 8:25, 8:33, 8:48, 8:20, 10:23, 9:12, 9:29, 9:26, 10:05, 8:48, 11:02, 8:53, 9:48, 9:40, 12:21, 13:07, 10:21, 10:18, 11:47, 12:29, 10:04, 13:44, 11:20

Your husband is gone for less than a week and you are already running with shirtless teenage boys? I think you knew this wasn't going to be a PR race but you still did well. Great job on getting another marathon under the belt. Will Nick be doing another one?

Nick will leave on his mission in 6 months. I wanted him to run Utah Valley before he went but he said he is done for a while!

Oh and I am not running with the shirtless boy he is running with me!

Sounds like a rough day all around. I think if you yelled at me, I might have cried. Lol. You still did great!!!

Great memory. Think how cool it will be for your son to say his mom the marathon runner ran with him.

From Smooth on Thu, Oct 07, 2010 at 17:49:33 from 67.41.235.104

See, you are soooo cool a shirtless teenage boy was chasing you! :)

Nick needs to run UVM with you! Give him couple of days to forget the pain...I'm sure he'll wanna do it again! You know how forgetful teenagers are! :)

THANKS for running the first half with me! Really wanted so badly to finish together. I was so torn and worried when we left you. WAY to tough it out and got another SGM towards the 10 yr club! :) LOVE YOU!!!!

You are AMAZING on so many levels!!! I'm pretty sure that we are given some leeway when it comes to running marathons. The best is when you can run BEHIND a really well built shirtless guy. I love counting their back muscles ... the teres major is my fave. Mmmm ... a nice set of those can keep me distracted for quite some time!!! What is it about that muscle? :)

You did great! Races like those is what tests are inner strength. You did AWESOME!!!

Love you.

Kathie, you have had an amazing race year this year. They can't all be PRs. Congrats on finishing another marathon. You did great in some tough conditions.

I am so proud of you!!!! I have been off the blog for about 2 weeks and am just now getting to your race report. The most important thing to remember is you finished a marathon!!!!! You are a strong and inspiring runner. I look forward to running a race with you someday in the future. Congrats!
