I got up at 4:15 to run today.  I have a friend who is running the St. George half (her first race!) and she wants me to help her train.  She has to be home by 6:10 so her husband can go to work.  It is hard to get up but she is so fun to run with.

Splits: 9:58, 10:06, 10:26, 10:23, 10:07

She runs much slower than I do, how do you think it will affect my training if I run this slow twice a week?

I run with a friend that slow pace about 3 times a week when I'm not at the peak of my training cycle. They are good recovery runs as long as you don't let your form get sloppy. towards the end of the run I always sprint to the finish! You can also do some strides and run back to her during the rest intervals. On days when I need more mileage I will run the warm up miles with her. running that slow twice a week shouldn't have too much negative effects especially this early in the training cycle.

VERY GOOD of you to train her. You are a great coach and running partner!
