Going into this race I wanted to just run my very best.  It was going to be the first time that I had not run with Kimmy and I was really nervous about the race.  If I did poorly it was all on me no excuses.  My goal was to come in under 2:00:00 and if I pushed really hard I wanted to pr and come in under 1:53:03

When we got to the race I went to the POP and ran into Adrian, a guy on our Wasatch back team.  I jokingly said I wanted him to pace me.  He said he just wanted to run this race for fun and that he would!

Not only did he pace me he coached me every step of the way.  He told me how to breathe better, improve my form and everything in between.  Long story short he coached me to a 1:51:20 15th in my age group!  I am not sure if I will ever be able to beat that PR.  I had several people ask as we passed them if he would coach them.  He totally pushed me to my limits and then made me go past them!

The only sad part to this story is that I really wanted Kimmy there right beside me during this race especially at the finish line! Stink!!!!

 Splits 8:33, 8:07, 8:08, 8:10, 8:18, 8:10, 8:20, 8:20, 8:31, 8:12, 8:34, 8:31, 8:45

You can really see where the wheels started to come off and if Adrian had not been there I think I would have stopped and walked for sure!

Side note my mom took 2nd place in her age group for the 5K!

WOW!!! That is impressive. All sub 9 pace. You did AWESOME!!! And had a great coach to help you get there. I knew you had a PR in you. With 15th place WOOT WOOT!! That is one tough AG. With or without the coach you did it. It was great to see you kickin it up at the end and chatted a sec with your mom. Now I can see why she was so happy 2nd place SWEET!! Yeah I never did get a chance to say hi to Kimmy. Great job to both of you. And I did see Kristy come in to right at the end.

Kathie, what a great race. You smashed that old PR and on a very tough course. If you found a nice flat 1/2 you would even be faster. Great job. I was sad not to have seen you. Once again, congrats on a very well run race.

Kathie, Kathie, Kathie ...

YOU ARE SO AMAZING!!! Seriously, what an incredible race you had. Considering that your old PR was at Hobble Creek makes this PR even that much more outstanding. All of your hard work paid off huge dividends. And to think that you were nervous. You silly girl!

WOW!!! Kathie, you rock! Painter's a tough course to PR and you did it so well. You've been training hard and it shows. You just needed someone to bring it out of you. Man, can I hire Adrian?

CONGRATS to you AND to your mom. What a speedy family!!! :)

Way to go. I knew that you had that in you. Don't even think that you won't be able to break that PR. I think that you will break it again by the end of the year.
