I guess the workout yesterday was much harder than I thought.  I skipped the second lifting class but I could hardly move this morning, hams, gluts and quads were on FIRE!  I wanted to run 1 mile at 9:13 and then 3 miles at 8:20 (my new half marathon pace)  I got on the treadmill and did the first mile at 9:13 and it hurt.  Did the second mile at 8:20 thought I was going to die.  .75 miles at 9:13 and then .25 at 8:00 and I was done.

Lifted for legs (I know crazy but that was what was on the schedule)

Spin

So here is my question.  I want to do two workouts for the whole month of December but I don't want to have the second work out take away from the main running workout, or do I?  If I lift that hard during December and my running suffers because of it will my running suffer more than the weight lifting will add?

PM - went to the new trainer not really happy with that class either.  I think I will just do push-ups and Sit-up etc. on my own as my extra work out.

While cross training is important to work the muscles that running does not, going so hard that you cannot complete your running workouts will not produce faster times. Is Painters a goal race? If so, then I would back off on the 2nd workout. If Boston is your goal then this is a good time of year to cut back on the running and supplement it with other forms of exercise.

Andy has some very good points. I am so messed up myself on how to proceed over the winter.

You'll figure it out ... and then I will copy you! :)

Kathie, When you figure it out, let me know. Although I can't imagine being able to find the time (or motivation) for a second workout. You are a studess!
