My run today was scheduled as 6 easy miles but because I blew off the 30 minute tempo run yesterday I thought I would do it today.  It felt pretty good.  I am still nervous about St. George though.  I have never held marathon pace longer than 13 miles.  I am not sure what is going to happen after that.

Those are some great splits. I would be very happy to post splits like that. I hope my run goes good tonight...I need a confidence boost!!!!

You'll be surprised at how well you do @ STG, you've trained too hard not too :)

Yeah come race day you can turn on that competitive side we know you have. You will do awesome. As for the MP pace splits you really didn't want to do them that fast on long runs. You just wanted to build up the stronger endurance at paces close to it. You are going to do awesome Kathie. And with all the hill training you do you will be strong through Veyo and on to the end.

I'll tell you what is going to happen after 13 miles. The course is going to start heading down hill and you'll be feeling pretty good. Then at about mile 20-22 your gonna wanna quit cause everything is starting to hurt.....no need to fear though cause with your awesome training this summer you are gonna have the strength and the mental toughness to push through to the finish. At least that is the way I see it for myself. I know what happens after about mile 20 and it ain't pretty. Hopefully I can find my happy thought and just fly to the finish.:) It's taper time, relax and enjoy!

WOW! Those are AWESOME tempo splits. I agree w/ Mark and Jeff. You are gonna do awesome at SGM. I have never run more than 13 miles in marathon pace either...and was wondering the same thing. But, look at all the tempo miles you've run. They are 30-45 seconds faster than your mp. SGM is magical, you'll be able to reap the fruits of your labor and surprised yourself with the best run of your life!

Nice splits. I don't know if you have realized this yet, but you are less than 1 mile away from 1000 miles for the year.

As long as you don't go out too fast and only run mp (not faster) for the first half, you are going to do great and run a negative split and qualify for Boston.
