After seeing this story on the news last night,

 http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=12398879

my mom called and tried to talk me out of my run today.  I told her that I would be extra careful but I needed to run.  I waited and ran later in the day making my run hotter but I did feel safer with all the other runners out there.  It is so sad that as female runners we have to take risks just to do what we love so much.

Here are the splits I felt really great until mile 15 and then the wheels started to come off.  These are the hardest miles of this run they are all gradual up hill miles and I just could get my legs to move.  Mile 19 I had to stop twice to fix my sock and I walked the big hill up to mile 20.

Splits: 9:15, 8:59, 8:48, 8:37, 8:47, 8:50, 9:04, 8:43, 8:53, 9:05, 8:59, 9:09, 9:18, 9:13, 9:29, 8:59, 9:21, 9:44, 10:31, 13:18

Lunch time - 3 hot slow miles with Daughter-in-law and Clark in the jog stroller

WAY to tough out a 20 miler solo, on a warm day and HILLS to boot! Those are great splits!!!! :) :) :)

Taper time! I'm gonna read that news article now. Have a good day and week!

I just signed in to make sure you saw the article. Makes me very upset. The first time I ran on that trail I noticed how unsafe it seemed. I ran by there 15 minutes before it happened. I wish my timing would have been better.

Oh yeah, great run today.

Glad you made it safely. I saw that article yesterday and it always makes me worry about everyone that runs on those trails. There sure are a lot of sick people out there.

Nice runs.

Wow, nice runs!

GREAT long run!

That story is very disturbing but I'm glad it didn't keep you inside. Sounds like the runner got a couple bites out of the guy and that he was scared off by another runner.

It is not just women runners that can find scary news items. I have a friend who is being stalked. Scary stuff, the most recent incident involved arson and a car bomb. Here is the catch though, my friend is a big guy in his 20s and his stalker is a 50 something year old woman who works for the U's college of law. The torched car was parked in Bountiful.

I don't think I've ever come close to an assault while running but I've been propositioned twice, once by a man and once by a woman.

There are some sick people in this world, but many more who are good.
