Tom slick on the other blog mentioned that it might be a good idea to start my runs at 10:30 since that is the time that I will start to run Boston.  So today I started later.  This was a mistake as the day went on the wind got really bad.  I started off thinking I would go 3 miles out come back get a drink at 6 miles and then head out for 4 more miles round trip.  I was running with the wind for the first few miles.  As I kept running, the wind got really bad.  I wish I knew how strong it was.  I knew if I headed back at 3 I wouldn't want to go back so I kept going until 4 miles turned around and did the last two on the treadmill.  I was really getting discouraged running into the wind, it was so hard, as you can see by the splits.

Splits: 8:52, 8:44, 8:48, 8:48, 9:36, 9:34, 9:50, 9:26

Both treadmill miles were at 9:13

Splits are irrelevant when running in the wind. Think of it as extra resistance training. Glad to see you put the full 10 in.

That wicked wind is brutal! WAY to plow thru. It makes you stronger. You will be so ready for whatever weather Boston or Ogden dish out. NICE 10 milers!

A side note, even though the start time is at 10:30, it'd feel more like 8:30 for us Utahns b/c of the time zone difference!

Nice wind run! Whenever it's that windy, I try to start out into the wind and finish with the wind at my back, that way for half the run I have something good to look forward to.

Yes, the 10:30 start time at Boston throws you off a little. Thanks for the reminder. 10:30 in Boston is 8:30 in Utah, so your internal clock shouldn't be off too much..the trick is knowing when to stop eating in the morning of the race.

Good job getting in the 10.

I was going to say the same as Smooth. That means 8:30 UT time and 7:30 for me.
