What a fun time we had!  The race had 1050 teams this year and so parts of it were really crowded but other than that I think Ragnar put on a great race.

It all started Thursday at 6:30 am.  I wanted to go to the temple with my son so I knew I had to have everything ready to go by 6:00pm.  I first went out for a six mile run.  My right foot was giving me problems so I called it quits at 2.5 miles.  I then cleaned the car, cleaned my house, bought groceries, decorated the van, met my son at the distribution center to buy him Garments, and went to the temple.  As you can see I didn’t have time to eat so at 9:00 when I got home I ate some fruit and went to bed.

We woke up at 4:00am packed up the car and headed to Logan.  Kim had been sick all week and she was not getting better.  She had a killer cough that was giving her fits.  She was running leg three and at the end of her first leg she was sure that she couldn’t do her very hard last leg (8 miles up hill)  so we traded legs for that round.  This would give me a 7 mile trail leg, an 8 mile uphill leg followed by another 8 mile uphill leg.  Knowing this early in the race gave me enough time to wrap my brain around it, so it really was not that big of a deal.

My first leg started around 2:00 I was hoping to do it in 59 minutes but I came in closer to 62 minutes.  I started to feel weak right from the start and then realize I had hardly eaten anything for the past 48 hours.  This leg has two uphill miles followed by two downhill miles and finishes with three rolling hill miles.

Splits: 9:43, 9:36, 8:52, 8:38, 8:29, 9:11, 8:55

My next leg started at 10:30 and is 8 miles mostly up hill.  I love this leg I am not sure why the uphill seems so easy but it did.  I had 26 road kills on this leg.  I met up with a young guy from Kaysville; we ran the last 4 miles together.  At one point it got really windy.  He let me draft of him and when I went to take my turn in the lead he said I was too skinny!  I could have kissed him!

Splits: 8:57, 9:16, 9:18, 9:19, 9:03, 9:15, 10:23(windy steep mile), 10:14
